Resting Daily Energy Expenditure

Using your weight, height and age it is possible to determine your resting daily energy expenditure (RDEE). This method was validated by Harris and Benedict (1919) [1] using closed circuit spirometry.

RDEE Calculator

To obtain an estimate of your RDEE please enter your height, age, weight and gender and then select the 'Calculate RRDE' button.

Height cm   Age   Weight Kg   Gender
RRDE Calories

The Algorithms

For Males

  • RDEE = 66 + (13.7 x weight) + (5 x height) - (6.8 x age)

For Females

  • RDEE = 655 + (9.6 x weight) + (1.85 x height) - (4.7 x age)

Free Calculator
