250 metre Endurance Test

Testing and measurement are the means of collecting information upon which subsequent performance evaluations and decisions are made but in the analysis we need to bear in mind the factors that may influence the results.

Objective

The objective of this test is to monitor the development of the athlete's speed endurance for the 200 metres event.

Required Resources

To undertake this test you will require:

  • 400 metre track
  • Stopwatch
  • Assistant

How to conduct the test

This test requires the athlete to run as fast as possible over 250 metres

  • The athlete warms up for 10 minutes
  • The assistant marks with cones a 250m section on the track
  • The athlete sprints as fast as possible from a standing stationary position at the start line to the 250 metre finish line. Spikes allowed.
  • The assistant stands at the finish line and starts the stopwatch from the moment the athlete's first foot strike and stops the stopwatch when the athlete's torso crosses the finishing line
  • The assistant records the time
