Biohack your way to the future

Tabitha May explains the five best ways to biohack your way to the future.

Biohacking is a movement that has been picking up a lot of traction over the last few years. But you already knew that! For years, we humans have been looking for ways to "hack" our bodies; reaping the medical benefits of our newfound insider knowledge.

For some, it is a pursuit of self-improvement: optimising and enhancing performance in every single way. Others prefer to use chips and trackers to monitor their bodies; tracking levels of chemicals or proteins within their bodies.

Biohacking even has medical purposes! Certain diseases or conditions require constant monitoring of the body, and some biohacking products can do this more efficiently than traditional medical practices. Let us take a read, courtesy of our friends at BioHackers Lab.

Bulletproof Coffee

Bulletproof coffee is a popular drink for biohackers, predominantly due to the high amount of healthy, natural saturated fats. It is excellent for anyone who is looking to improve their brain and body. It is suitable for a range of diets, including keto.

Bulletproof coffee can make your brain work faster, smarter, and harder; it’s packed full of calories that will energise and motivate you, as well as:

  • Improve your mood
  • Assist with weight loss
  • Promote brain activity
  • Improve strength and muscle building
  • Increase energy

Hyperbaric oxygen treatment (HOT)

Though it might be a biohack, hyperbaric oxygen treatment is very well established, with plenty of well-known medical uses.

But what is it?

HOT is commonly used to treat an assortment of conditions relating to decompression sickness; climbers, divers, or other people who might be exposed to the pressure they are not typically used to.

And while HOT does an excellent job of removing bubbles from the bloodstream, helping to alleviate the symptoms of specific pressure-related syndromes, it has a plethora of ‘holistic’ uses.

It is widely thought that HOT can improve your memory and your mood! It is great to treat people who may have experienced head injuries in the past.

The Iconic Keto Diet

Keto is everywhere right now. From bodybuilders to athletes; weight loss groups, and even those looking to improve their brain-power or thought process – a keto diet can benefit everyone.

You might already be familiar with the many proven benefits:

  • It supports weight loss
  • Helps the body to resist cancer
  • Protects your brain function

And that is only a handful of the incredible advantages that keto can offer!

However, there are a few exciting things that you might NOT have known about the keto diet. Did you know that it can be implemented to help children who suffer from seizures? Or that it can help to reduce acne?

Keto does not have to cost

One thing that puts people off attempting a keto diet is the perceived cost. As it relies heavily on the use of fatty foods and proteins such as meats, fish, and eggs, many people think that it will cost too much.

While a keto diet can, in some cases, be expensive, most of the time, it can be just as cost-efficient as a non-dietary shopping list.

The foods you need might be typically more expensive on an individual basis, but you will be eating less as you lose weight.

In nearly every case, the benefits outweigh the costs involved in getting started.

RFID implant

If you are looking for super-spy, cutting-edge technology, this is the closest you will get.

The RFID chip is essentially the human version of a microchip: it works on the same technology and can contain all of the information needed to streamline your day-to-day life.

Currently, technology does limit what we can do with an RFID chip but do not let this put you off. We are continually developing new ways to use the chip, making a general living as easy as possible.

Currently, the primary use of an RFID chip is to track all of your data in one place. It can be useful for you to store your essential medical information, including your allergies, medical history, or other relevant factors.

However, some people have begun to integrate "contactless payment" facilities, allowing them to use their hands in much the same way as apple-pay or contactless transactions.

It is a young technology, though, and it is consistently developed. In the future, we might see it become an essential part of security, border control, or even workplace management.
