Cannabidiol (CBD)

Naeem Manz explains why CBD should not be frowned upon by athletes.

What is CBD?

CBD or cannabidiol is a cannabis compound that has several benefits. It is well known for its medical benefits; however, it always gets mistaken that it makes people high or "stoned". CBD counteracts the psychoactivity effect of the THC element that is responsible for getting people high. CBD is known to be a type of treatment for several diseases, such as diabetes, chronic pain, infections, and so on.

CBD as a Food or Medicine Supplement

For the CBD to be well manufactured, it must pass through several stages in the CBD manufacturing facility. The process must follow this order cultivation, harvest, drying, processing, extraction, refining, and purification through specialized equipment.

CBD for Athletes

According to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), CBD can now be legally used by athletes. As previously mentioned, CBD has many advantages that athletes can benefit from. To them, athletes would think it is better to use a natural supplement rather than taking any other drug such as NSAIDs or opioids. Athletes would need such natural supplements for several benefits such as;

Pain relief

Studies performed have concluded that the THC levels in the CBD are enough to easily relieve the pain.

Better sleep

Getting enough and the right amount of sleep is a very important thing in an athlete's life. The CBD binds to the receptors of the ATP in your mind, inhibiting the adenosine reuptake. The nervous system starts relaxing, which makes falling asleep faster. Also, there are different types of CBD products that you can buy such as THC capsules, discreet D8, softgels, and many more to help improve your sleep.

Replaces NSAIDS and Opioids

These two supplements are known to be very effective. However, they are very addicting over the long run, which is not a good factor. CBD is a natural, non-addicting supplement that is known to be as effective as NSAIDS or Opioids.

Reduces inflammation and fastens physical recovery

CBD binds to the CB2 receptors in a human's mind to slow down the immune system's response after a hard workout.

Athlete Experience

Several athletes have claimed that their use of CBD as a natural supplement has helped them perform better.

The famous UFC star, Nate Diaz, was talking about the importance and benefits of CBD in his athletic life. He said that it helped him prepare before the fights and recover after them. He also mentioned that CBD has helped him specifically in healing, pain relief, and inflammation as a fighter.

Another professional athlete, the former NFL player Eugene Monroe, has been also known for using CBD. He was talking about his physical condition after his retirement and said that he became dependent on painkillers. Those painkillers took him nowhere better. Later on, he started consuming CBD and everything changed afterward. His pain was relieved, and his discomfort faded.

Conclusion

All athletes are looking for ways to make them stay athletic and right on track. CBD is one of these ways that could be very effective in their athletic lives and that is why it is now legal and reasonably logical for athletes to be consuming CBD as a natural supplement. This natural supplement is helping athletes in many ways and several areas.
